DTF (Direct to Film) Printing

DTF gets its name from "Direct To Film".

DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a textile marking technique that allows for high-resolution and complex prints on a wide variety of materials, including dark and difficult-to-customize textiles.

How it works

  1. Printing on PET film: A PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film is printed with water-based pigmented inks.
  2. Application of a white undercoat: An opaque white undercoat is applied over the print to ensure vibrant colors and optimal opacity, even on dark textiles.
  3. Film cutting: The printed film is cut using a cutting plotter, leaving only the desired design.
  4. Transfer to textile: The film is transferred to the textile using a heat press. Heat and pressure activate the film's adhesives, allowing for durable adhesion to the fabric.

  • Versatility: Applicable to a wide range of textiles, including cotton, polyester, blends, leather, and even non-textile surfaces.
  • High-resolution printing: Allows for detailed and precise prints with vivid and vibrant colors.

  • Flexibility: The PET film adapts to curved and irregular surfaces, allowing for precise application on various materials.
  • No texture: The printed design does not create extra thickness on the textile, resulting in a soft and comfortable feel.

On-demand printing constraints

Color differences:

It may happen that the colors on the printed item do not have the same rendering as on the screen.

  • In order to print a raster image (PNG, JPG, etc.), we convert the RGB color encoding to CMYK. This can lead to color alterations.
  • Each screen displays colors in its own way. Depending on your settings (contrast, brightness, intensity), colors can change significantly.
  • The color of the textile influences the final rendering of the print.
